On November 14, 2008, a group of 100 World Bridges supporters gathered at the historic Women's Building in San Francisco for "Mundo ao Mundo," a celebration of our 2008 program participants. The Brazilian theme honored the experiences of our 2008 program participants, including two who traveled to work in Sao Paolo, Brazil last summer.

Summer is an exciting time at World Bridges. The Leadership Exchange Program participants are engaged in international volunteer exchanges, living and working abroad with other young leaders dedicated to making social change. Read their travel updates.

Our friends at Intrax Cultural Exchange hosted a special event in honor of the participants, raising over $3,000 toward their projects. Meanwhile, 32 people joined the Cause to Run on August 3. For news and photos from these events, click here:

The Cause to Run

The Cause to Run on Sunday, August 3 in San Francisco is a fun and easy way to support World Bridges.

The money raised by the World Bridges Team will help to prepare a generation of leaders with hands on organizing skills and international awareness.

Last year we raised enough money to send 6 participants abroad to volunteer
projects in Kenya, Egypt, Guatemala, Cuba, Mexico & Vietnam. Each one had
an amazing, life-changing experience meeting other young leaders working
for social change.

This year our goal is $15,000! That is enough to pay for 7 of the World Bridges participants to travel and volunteer overseas this summer! Click here to learn more about joining or sponsoring the team!

The Leadership Exchange Program is in full swing this year with 10 new participants. This year’s emerging young leaders were chosen from a large pool of applicants because of their demonstrated commitment to working for social justice in the Bay Area. They are role models for youth in their communities – mentoring young people in the neighborhood, inspiring them through art and journalism, and building coalitions to take action on issues that affect them.
